Service Description: A sales tax geo area is used to group sales tax accounts together that are in the same geographic area. For example, An address may reside in the Downtown area, or 29th St Mall, and so on. Aggregating addresses by these regions allows analysts to understand trends in tax collection, among other things.
The boundaries for "All Other Boulder" are current as of December 2023, and there is no automated update of these boundaries if land is annexed into City limits.
These geo areas are used in a nightly script in conjunction with official address points. It performs a spatial join, processes the attributes into a format that GenTax software understands, and finally files the results into a feature class in PROD3. The code repository for this process can be found here.
More information on the City's Sales and Use Taxes can be found at the city's website here.
