Parent Layer: Other

Name: Wildlife Closures

Display Field: ClosureName

Type: Feature Layer

Geometry Type: esriGeometryPolygon

Description: This dataset includes OSMP Wildlife closure areas with date range and type of closure. EnactedClosure attribute must equal "Yes" and current date must fall between the Date_From and Date_To fields). Species represented include Raptors (Bald Eagle, Golden Eagle, Peregrine Falcon, Prairie Falcoln, Osprey and Northern Harrier), Grassland Birds, Bats, and Invasive Species (New Zealand Mussel Snail). Note in January of 2021 the boundaries of Skunk Canyon, Fern Canyon, Back Porch, Mallory Cave, Mallory Cave Area and May's Point were updated to be more accurate (align with trails and features now visible on aerial photography). GIS worked in conjuction with Wildlife and the Rangers on this effort. For closures associated with Raptor nests, the ClosureID in this feature class relates to the Raptor Nests feature class. Biologists can lift closures early using a web application; closure dates are tracked in the closurehistory table. Note that the web application is written such that the year cannot be changed, from 2014/2015. For further details on the closure process visit the RIS GIS process documentation.
